I've just updated songworm.com to include the four parodies I've written in the past few weeks, the most topical of which is "Valentines Day 2018 (Thinkin' and Prayin')".

It's the last day of Sasquan, and I'm leaving relatively early on the last day. In this case, because it's a Wednesday-Sunday con and the all-night filk turned out to still be Saturday, I headed almost directly from the after-filk breakfast to the airport ( Read more... )

I got this idea when Taunya Gren and Paul Kwinn (2/3 of Puzzlebox) covered the original on Saturday at Consonance.  I finished it on Sunday night, and they performed it at the Dead Dog filk circle.

Back from OVFF.

I was able to spring "307 Delta Beta" on Tom Smith and Decadent Dave on Saturday. I did "Velvet Tide" at the Dead Dog filk, but not until well after Talis had left; as usual the Dead Dog was very lively for awhile, and I know of cases where people went to bed without getting the song they wanted to do or tried and failed to get a ( Read more... )

Several people told me after the Puzzlebox concert at Consonance ten hours ago that my song had made them cry.  It was gratifying to know it had had its intended effect.  On those rare occasions I write [serious|songworm.com/db/tag/serious] songs, especially the even rarer one that are sad, I'm alway reminded of the advantage of humorous songs:   ( Read more... )

At Seanan's book party in San Francisco Saturday evening, Vixy and Tony debuted my parody of "My Story Is Not Done".

Unlike last year, there wound up being plenty of opportunities at Consonance for all my new songs to not only get done but to reach the ears that especially needed to hear them.
